"Please allow me to introduce myself" Mick Jagger
« on: August 29, 2006, 07:25:35 PM »
I have been trolling this board for a while and think it's probably time to become more active.
I have learned some of the characters, not many, but some and I want you guy's to have an idea of what kind of idiot I am.
I use my real name to post and try to sign with my company signature, that helps keeping me from doing things that will come back to haunt.
I'm an old guy, turn 60 this week.
Started on DCA with some version shortly after 1.0.
Was an ACAD stud until shortly after r14.
Spent 5 years in a microstation situation, Highway work for Kansas and Missouri.
Been in Information systems since.
My firm has =\- 250 employees, around a hundred adesk licenses of various types, including ABS, testing the Revit water and 50 seats of Civil3D.
I have been researching C3D since I received the 2005 CD.
2004 just went into a drawer.
I spend a lot of time on the Autodesk discussion groups.
James, Dana Jason and Nick are in my contacts list.
I apologize to those folks if they think that inappropriate but this is a desperate attempt at instant credibility.
So are a couple guys in Manchester.
My responsibilities in the 3D adventure have included convincing management to go this direction.
Selection of a consultant.
Preparing the Hardware for this pig.
Selection of team members.
Coordinating training and occasionally letting loose with a Blue Flame Rant at some of the Adeskers who read the Discussion Groups.
Anyway I'm really just trying to get my message count above Jason Hickey's.

Howdy.

Welcome to TheSwamp.  We are most definiitly not Manchester (and thankfully so as my undies are not full armor plate) but there may very well be some answers to be found in these murky waters (most of that murky is Dent, but we try to not talk about that).  Some of the best AutoCAD talent and programmers found anywhere call this place their second or third home.

A hearty welcome to you John.  I recognize you from the pn.cadmanagers group, and IMO you post a LOT of good info/ advice there.  (much appreciated) Glad to have you around.  I more or less troll there, cause this place here is just such a wonderfully friendly and helpful place. :)

With folks like you and Jason, and quite a few others, the status of The Swamp just keeps increasing.  Maybe more will follow.

Sure have at it.
Be advised a real Blue Flame Rant has to p*ss some people off.
But it also has to be your version of the TRUTH.

One of my fav's.

Welcome to the party. Pull up a chair, grab a cold one and flame on!  I'll bring the marshmellows.

I've been here for a few months. (as an innocent bystander cuz most of the stuff is over my head), but I am a full time C3d user in a small cad department. (just me)  Flying solo means I need to me my own cad admin, designer, production user and network admin. (wired the new office today) I've been doing civil stuff for 20+ years now. I started with pencil/ink and mylar, progressed to cad with Terramodel, and moved to a new company & C3D in 2005. Anywho, that's me and I'm glad to help whenever I can.

Good to see you starting to post, I've been waiting for you to jump into the swamp for a while now.  You have posted a lot of good questions and provided equally good advice at other sites and your input is indeed welcome here.  From the look of your intro, our background is nearly identical except for your Terramodel and my EaglePoint.
