That's like asking what is the best beer. They'll all get you drunk but everyone has they're own preference on brand or style.

Yep, it really depends on what you are doing and how heavily you are getting into it.  Lots of people use combinations of languages.  LISP is the quickest and easiest for simple tasks, but it is also the most limited and hard to work with for large tasks.  Going into the future, access to Autocad through .NET would be the preferred method, but that still leaves you a wide choice of languages.  (.NET is merely a way to access and work with Autocad, it is not a language itself.)  VB is popular, but I would lean toward C# or Java myself (personal preference - I've never liked BASIC syntax).

Like it has been said by others, what do you intend to do?  I use LISP for really easy or quick tasks,  VBA for other harder (read I kow how to write in VBA not LISP) tasks, BUT I'm still learing C# for use of everything in the future. (IF I ever learn it well enough to give up LISP and VBA)

Sometimes the question is more important than the answer. (Thanks Kerry for reminding me)

Don't.  Sometimes LISP and VBA are the right tools for the job.

I've given my 0.02 - and now I'm broke :-)
