Power Selector in Microstation
« on: March 27, 2006, 11:12:15 AM »
Hello,
My name is Richard and I used to work with T-Bear (Hope you won't hold that against me! LOL!) I've taken a job doing 911 mapping using Microstation :-o. This is a major change for a die hard Acad drafter, let me tell you!
As I discover how to use the different commands, I wonder about some of the programmers and just what the heck they where thinking(or not thinking) when they designed this thing! One problem I've run into is "Power Selector" for selecting objects. It works nice but it has a tendency to "select" objects and delete them completely from the drawing, you can even get them back with a undo/redo! What the heck!!!!! Is this what I need to expect every time I use that command or what? Am I doing something that's causing this or is it just a bug in the program?

Thanks
Richard

In my opinion the whole program is a bug.  :realmad:

You need to make sure what you are doing after you make the selection.
Doing what you describe above is equivalent of just selecting a bunch of stuff in Acad.
Sounds like you are hitting the erase or delete key. Hence you get the same results as if you were to then hit Erase in Acad.

Keep struggling through the thing. Eventually you will get to where you don't know whether to shoot yourself, the programmers who made it, the company that forces you to use it, or the guy that keeps giving you the Craprostation work, or all of the above.

Hello,
The stuff that was deleted was stuff that was off to the side and not where I was working, and I know for a fact that I didn't have them selected at any time. I don't know why it deleted it, but it did it multiple times to the same objects, which where arcs and some lines. Who ever programed this software needs to be dealt with :pissed:!

Thanks
Richard

Hello,
No "Fence"! it's such a clunky command I don't even try to use it. I think it's keeping the arcs, and lines "hot" from when they where drawen and then then deleting them some how, or something. Today it's hasn't done it yet and yesterday was the first time it did do it. Thats how my luck runs, I guess. I'm still waiting for todays problem.

Thanks
Richard
