Qselect error
« on: July 01, 2010, 10:25:43 AM »
I don't us QSelect very often, but it IS handy when I need it.

This morning I need it and it isn't working.

When I type 'QSelect' I get the message '53 entities not selected' I then hit enter and I get another message 'No Entities to select'.

I have tried it on a couple of different drawings with the same result. I then had a coworker try those drawings and QSelect works fine on her machine. So, I have narrowed it down to being my machine. And yes, I have rebooted.

Is there a setting or variable that can be causing this?

Interesting.  There isn't a system variable that I am aware of to adjust QSelect in any way.  The only thing I can think of at the moment would be the selection application.  Do you have the 'How to Apply' set to "Exclude from new selection set" ??  If so, change this to "Include in new selection set".
From your comment, it is counting the selection '53 ... ' entities, so it is working.  It would have to be ... [clear throat]hrrmmm[/clear throat] ...  ummm ... a ...  user error.

If the above isn't the case, give us a detailed description of the current settings on the QSelect dialog box and what you are doing.

That was the problem, the dialog box wouldn't appear. So, I couldn't make these changes. Everthing was at the command line only.

I did a reboot then a 'repair installation' and it now works fine.

I believe my workstation is falling appart little by little and will need a total format, etc... at some point. Of course, I will put this off for as long as I can.

Thanks anyway.

There IS a variable for dialog boxes not showing up.  It's called 'filedia'.  Set at zero, the command line takes precendence.  Set to one, the dialog boxes appear.  Sorry this info's too late, but perhaps in the future it'll come in handy.
