Cross Section Properties
« on: February 25, 2010, 12:00:03 PM »
Anybody know of a way to extract cross section properties from autocad civil 2010?  I need to offset and elevation at all grade breaks for my cross sections.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Scott

when you created your corridor....
there is a code set assigned to various elements of the subassemblies you used....
create and assign a code set to label the offset station and elevations...

or perhaps I've read too much into your request....

as I am thinking you are after design information...along your alignment

OK...no on second thought you are probably asking for Existing data and that would be coming from a Band Set that you assign to the section view(s)

Yes, I am looking for existing data.  I need to determine the maximum possible flow in a stream based on the cross sections.  Basically looking at 15 - 20 cross sections and determine which one would flow the least amount of water without overtopping the banks.  Most of the cross sections are relatively similar, but when I extract the offset and elevations, run my calculations through my spreadsheet, I am seeing a substantial difference in flow.  Extracting the offset and elevations is a pain becasue I have to reformat everything before I copy it into my spreadhseet.  Maybe there is a way to do the calcualtions in autocad.  I'm not that familir with Civil 2010.

there is a streams extrention that will do exactly what you need  for C3D....let me research and post a link....you MUST be a subscription member to access the download.... :-(

otherwise you could run alignments at the cross section stations...and then extract the EG data from the XML file.

I'm not using C3D.  I'm stuck with Civil 2010 at least until C3D 2011 comes out.

ok, you will want to go the alignment way....
after exporting to XML you will be able to open the XML file and extract station and elevation information....

apologies for any misdirection
