Strange New Problem
« on: May 29, 2009, 09:04:58 AM »
Yesterday, I had this weird buggy sort of thing happen to me in AutoCAD.  I saved one drawing as another and started working on it and I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden, I was only able to select about 1/4 of the objects in the drawing.  There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what I was able to select, either because there'd be multiple text objects that I could not select... all text is on the text layer.  Linework was the same... Let's say out of 100 objects on any given layer, I could only select 25 of them.  I pick and pick, but AutoCAD acts as if there was nothing there.

It happened again today, and to add to it, I did a zoom extents, and it zoomed out further than expected as if there was something out in the middle of nowhere, but there was nothing there.

If I close and re-open the drawing, the problem goes away.  :?

Has anyone seen this before?

I have seen that, Service packs helped, but still rarely happens, I reboot the computer when it does.
I think its actually a video driver problem, so check your settings there.  We turned off hardware acceleration on one machine doing that and it seemed to help.

Yeah, I reboot my machine at the very least, every night before I leave.  We have to leave our machines on every night and they want people to log off, but I prefer to reboot.  The problem came back this morning though...
Meh... I'm still waiting for a couple of our other applications to become compatible with AutoCAD 2010 so I can install it... maybe it will fix the error (and replace it with another one  )

We've had that happen along with several other small but irritating glitches.
IT guys are stumped. Service packs, driver updates, and reinstalls only seem to do a temporary fix.
I feel all the updates for Explorer, Norton, Windows XP, etc. are causing everthing to not play well together.

Using Windows XP Pro (ver 2002) with SP2
Microsoft Outlook 2000 SP-3
Microsoft Office 2000
Autocad 2008 from Inventor Suite
