Export Pipeworks Data To Excel
« on: May 16, 2008, 11:22:58 AM »
I know I am way behind, still using 2004 LDT here, but if anyone can share or send a link as to how you export pipeworks data to excel.  I would be very appreciative.  I know its a database and should export to excel fairly easily, but I have no experience interfacing with access, so any pointers or tips are very welcome.

Thanks!

To export the pipeworks database:

In Autodesk® Civil Design, on the Pipes menu, click Import/Export Runs > Export DB.
In the Export DB Runs dialog box, enter a file name and select a folder for file storage.
Click Save.

In  the Defined Runs dialog box, all the pipe runs that are defined in the existing project are displayed.

Select some or all of the pipe runs and click OK to close the dialog box.
To import the pipeworks database:

In Autodesk Civil Design, on the Pipes menu, click Import/Export Runs > Import DB.
In the Import DB Runs dialog box, select the MDB file that was created as the export file, and click Open.

In the Defined Runs dialog box, all the pipe runs that are defined in the selected MDB file are displayed.

Select some or all of the pipe runs and click OK to close the dialog box.

Choose either wks, or CSV and opening, or importing to Ex-hell is done under the DATA pull down.
And Have a Nice Day!
Be your Best

Ok, so I found a different solution.  In excel, under data, there is an option to import external data.  From there you can select database, browse to the projects pipeworks.mdb and create your queries from there.  Rather slick, we have ours queries set to name, pipe material, pipe size, and 2d length.  The real kicker is that you can set the link to update on open, therefore any changes to pipe material etc will update.  Also since it is in excel you can sort by pipe size, class etc...
