Quick Select / Filter
« on: February 06, 2008, 11:10:16 AM »
I've got some holes that I can't select using Quick Select or Filter

I want to select them by what Autocad says the radius or diameter of the holes are yet when I take that number and plug it in to quick select or filter I get no items returned in my selection set.

The only thing I can figure is that the radius/diameter is more specific decimal point wise than Autocad can display?

I've attached a sample file if that helps.

Thanks

I can't open the drawing, but wouldn't Filter=Circle Radius >= 0.000 work? or if it's a <==> condition you could use the AND in the filter. Sorry if you've already travelled this path as I can't open the drawing.

I updated the attachment so that it's in 2000 format instead of 08.

Yeah doing a greater than and less than worked for selecting the holes..

I guess I was more confused as why I couldn't get Autocad to tell me exactly what size the circle was.

Change your UNIT PRECISION to more decimal places.

I was already set at the max precision in units in decimal..

I hadn't considered switching it to scientific.

Once I did that I could use the scientific value

I just ran qselect using 2 step select process to select lines that fell between a length of 20.0 and 21.0 units.  I first filtered for lines that were were longer than 20 using the Greater Than operator. Then I ran a less than operator to filter out objects that were less than 21.0 on the 72 objects return from the first selection.

Kind of clunky but it works.

Could be affected by saving down, but under filter, I just used "Add Selected Object <", selected one circle and deleted unimportant information until I was left with,
Object = Circle
Circle Radius = 0.098425
and all were selected when I type "p" after hitting apply.

Yeah that works when I use "Add Selected Object" but thats wierd if I enter that exact same value that it shows rather than picking it, it won't pick up those wholes..

I find that interesting that Autodesk is using a lot higher precision but isn't showing you that it is.. Oh well.  :loco:

I've seen that little annoyance too often. It is crazy.
