Dark Colors with a black ground
« on: February 05, 2015, 03:48:34 PM »
I am having a hard time seeing in the Select Color Dialoge box (Colors 19 thru 249) the bottom row on my black background. I have the monitor brightness up too. Is there preferred color that I could still see the dark colors with grey colors? Sorry I'm having a hard time seeing this stuff.
Thanks

No matter what color your background is, you are going to have a hard time seeing some colors. The key is to pick colors that contrast with your background.

Somebody wasn't thinking or they were using a lighter colored background. Without knowing all of the colors being used, it would be a stab in the dark suggesting a color. Try a lighter color if you are having trouble seeing the dark colors.

Or you could change the colors while you work and change them back before you close out.

I am gonna ask about that one. There are tons of layers and a lot of different colors. How could you do this?

Easily with code :) If layercolor = x then change it to y .. then vise-versa. Or you could use layer states.

Or you could save a VIEW before you muck up anything.

back in the day we worked on AES cad system, and colors were assigned only numbers, no names, and you could assign your own color map to the #'s. Too bad Autodesk never picked up that feature...

Do you plot by color or name? If you plot by name, you can easily change the color without negatively affecting the plot, as ronjonp said a simple routine will change the colors back and forth. If you plot by color the same can be done however you might want to add on save or on plot reactors to change it back to the "standard" colors.

That makes some sense to me. I have been trying to place the brightness all the way up to try to see, however (getting old here) my eyes hurt like heck. As for plot by name or plot by color. I am not quite following you.

When you go to the plot window for Plot Style Table (pen assignments) is it Something.ctb or Something.stb?
