Printing spool is slow!
« on: August 26, 2005, 09:43:32 AM »
OK. So we just upgraded to a faster server. When I print to our HP Laserjet 5 (shared printer on the netwrk) it takes a 1 megabyte drawing nearly 5 minutes to start printing. Do any of you have an idea of what to check to troubleshoot this? My PC3 file is the same as before...I've rebooted the printer...tried the "print directly to printer" setting in the printer on the server.

Thanks,

Ron

I'm not printing to background. The problem is in the spooling.

The wrong drivers were loaded. It seems like more and more lately with printer drivers, the lastest and greatest isn't always the best.

it's your heidi system driver that is slowing you down. As previously stated by RonJon.

Try to get the print driver version that was on your old server.
We had the same issue here and out IT people just couldn't see why it bother me...

Thank you!  I was having this slow print spooling problem and could not figure out how to fix it.

'Plot in background' -> Off    Fixed it perfectly. Plotting is now practically instant!   :-)
