Hatch Pattern Choices
« on: February 27, 2014, 10:45:32 PM »
I have a 100' x 60' slab and want to dress it up a bit.
Adding a Concrete Hatch with a scale of 6 seems close but look too busy.
Increasing to scale makes the triangles too large but does space the pattern out which is what I am after.
My solution is to use the 6 scale but use a screened plot to lighten the pattern.

So, does anyone have an alternate pattern to try or perhaps a better technique?

In large areas we tend to do a few small areas of hatching indicating the boundaries of the concrete... so I will be watching this thread with interest to see how others do it.
Thanks for explaining the word "many" to me, it means a lot.

We use gray for all existing, and black for all proposed... Each having varied lineweight depending on layer.

That said, to prevent our proposed concrete slabs from printing with too much emphasis, we'd use a color/style that yielded 0.00 lineweight (which just prints hardcopy at the thinnest possible lineweight for each print device)... That way it prints in black, but very, very thin.

Thanks for the responses.
The engineer wanted the entire area hatched.

BlackBox, Could you post a picture of what that looks like for you.

Here's a quick screen grab from a PDF:

Yes, That is what I ended up with is a faded look.
Not dark enough to grab too much attention.

And you can text mask (forgot the command, da-n old age) to keep the hatch from interfering with text.

I generally do it the way you do, Jonesy.

Here's a AR-CONC variant made by pushing the triangles further apart.

Thanks Bob,
The text were masked but the pattern kinda jumps out at you.
The screened line weight helped a lot.

Hugh,
That pattern is nice I'll try printing it to get a real test.
Thanks

Of course you could use 2 different hatches: AR-CONC for the triangles and AR-SAND for the extra pixels.

What about using AR-CONC and AR-SAND together?
