Sandbox in AutoCAD?????
« on: May 03, 2011, 02:07:47 PM »
IS there a such a thing as a virtual sandbox?

I messing with the preferences and I hate having to go back and change stuff back to original or changing it to some make believe just my code can change it?

I think that depends on what you are futzing with.  For example, some settings are stored in the drawing, some in the registry, and some not at all.  You could, in theory, grab a snapshot of the registry under HKCU, from the current profile.  If you want to go back, just close AutoCAD and merge the REG file back in.  But that won't save the drawing-related settings, nor the application level settings.
If you are going to fly by the seat of your pants, expect friction burns.

try {GreatPower;}
   catch (notResponsible)
      {NextTime(PlanAhead);}
   finally
      {MasterBasics;}

Consider making a copy of your standard profile.

In the resultant profile, make whatever *test* changes you want, before making a permanent change to your standard profile. That way, you can always set your standard profile current to 'clean the slate' so-to-speak.

I started doing that, then that got muddied.  I became target fixated on the code.  :ugly: :ugly:

Oh well thanks guys.

Fun stuff.
I can do nothing but making a backup profile.
If some codes can do that ,I will keep watching.
