Kelie,

The alias issue is due to differential drive MAPPING

The basic rule is that ALL members of the SAME Mapping team(GIS) must all use the same drive aliases.
The Broken Reference to your surface I suspect is due to different network drive mapping between your two offices.
You will need to A) Standardize your drive mappings, or B) repair the broken links each time you exchange these between offices.

You may also want, or need to set the working folder for your data shortcuts; if you are keeping them within the project folder.
