Tool Palette query
« on: April 17, 2008, 04:56:45 PM »
I know this may sound strange, but did AutoCAD change the way you put things onto a tool palette since 2005.

I have the unenviable task of editing/creating more than 500 blocks, and organising them onto suitable tool palettes, and then shipping the tool palettes across multiple destinations. Its been more than a year and ACAD 2005 -> 2008 since I have done this, and I'm sure it was literally drag n drop in 2005...

I drag the block to the tool palette from the design centre. It appears on the palette, it  but I cannot see a way of editing the tool palette properties to make sure the block goes on the right layer and looks for the correct network path. All that information is greyed out... My only guess is that I must be missing something really basic.

So please, any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance
:)

Is this a new Tool Palette or existing? If existing, is it set to read-only (the little lock in the bottom)?

i'm with kate, check to see if you have the lock at the bottom. we have the directory where our tool palettes are stored write protected. only the cad managers have access to it. if the cad manager creates/edits a palette everyone gets it, if a reg. user does, it just creates it on their c: drive.

Thanks all for your replies.
The palette isnt locked. It was one I created for this job, and currently sits on an area on the drive where everyone has access (but no-one goes) When its finished, it will be going into an area only I and 1 other will have access to.

However, when I came into work today, all seems to work as it should. (I guess I should've rebooted before I posted, but AutoCAD "improves" things constantly, and I didnt know whether this was an "improvement")

Cheers all
T :)

when we send an IT request, that's one of the questions we have to answer before we can send the request off.

Its usually one of the first things I do... however, I thought I'd tried it the day before too, so I thought it was just a different implimentation, as the last time I did this it was before the days of the CUI.

But alls good now.
