Tool palette customisation

Tool palettes, anyone know how to do the following with them:
Edit the bitmap image that is shown for a block on your palette
Have them add their own dedicated layer to the drawing.Waht I mena by this is that say I added a wall mounted mirror light to my drawing from the tool palatte,I'd like it to create the layer LI-LIGHT with a particular colour. This would be the case with all my lighting blocks that I'd add theyd be added to the LI-LIGHT layer, irrespective of what the current layer was.
Was also wondering can I split the tool palettes so that I could have all my mechanical palettes load when I'm creating a mechanical drawing and then electrical palettes load when Im creating an electrical drawing?

As for the image goes........
right click on the item you want to change
select Properties
in the Tool properties dialog right click on the image .

Create that layer in the drawing with all the properties you want it to have, i.e. color, linetype, etc...then right click on one of the electrical tools you created, go to properties, change the layer pulldown to the LI-LIGHT layer, and change the color to bylayer...

Thats what I was hoping to do,all I have to do is set the cions up in the palette for the preconfigured layer! How easy!Dumbass I just totally missed it. :) Now I dont even need to make up each of the layers,I just dag the block in I need off the tool palette and hey presto the layer is created.Should save me some time.I still cant suss out how to edit the image for the tool palette icon.Problem Ive still got is some of the icons dont display all the pic I need, some of it is cut off.
