i do alot of copying of files from one directory to another and am in the habit of opening 2 windows and dragging and dropping. what i'm wondering is is there a way to create a shortcut that would open 2 windows to directories that i specify?

if you're running Novell, if you right-click there's a Netware Copy command which copies the file to a directory you can specify.

Try AB Commander Lite, you can get it at http://www.Winability.com. It has a double panel option. I'd be lost without it. :D

included in the zip file is a batch file called 'exp.bat', place that file some where in your path, c:\windows will work. Next create a "shortcut" to the 'exp.bat' file on your desktop. In the "target" window you want to add the two folders you wish to open along with the path to the .bat file.

Example: assuming you have the .bat file in c:\windows.
c:\windows\exp.bat<space>c:\window one<space>c:\window two

that will open the two folders in seperate windows. I've included a srceen shot and shortcut in the zip file.

are you copying to overwrite or just copying to and from?

If you are copying to overwrite, I use a software program called
"beyond compare" this is provided by www.Scootersoftware.com

This will let you look at two sets of files/folders and copy/move to either the left one or right one.
