Title: A quicker way to edit "Line work" in AEC 2D secti
Post by: pochrist on February 22, 2004, 08:31:22 AM
I'm just starting to use ADT 3.3 in my new company and have discovered the AEC section tools  :D , but I also discovered how tedious it is to have to pick all those line individually  . Has any one figured out a faster way, button macro or routine or some thing.  I posted this in Autodesk forums, but got the suggestion of getting ADT 2004, while it's real a tempting option, The renovation to my Mansion is taking longer than expected and I lost the keys to my Ferrari Collection :? . Any "real world" ideas out there. TIA

Pick all what lines? You create a section line and then tell the computer to create a section. What is the "Line work" you speak of? It appears to be 2D and you need to be using the 3D tools to do what you ask. Need more input.

Correct I'm going from a 3D Model to a 2D section, But without "Picking lines" how would I change the Color / Lineweights, and the other custom "property styles" we use? Like dashed lines and "Erased" lines. I tried a "Live section" more lines then the 2D so thats a longer job, it would be much easier to used a Window or crossing box, or even a fence line.[/quote][/u]

That takes some work. I'll try to find the book on it and get back to you later.

You need to customize a section style. You can tell it that anything that is green in 3d can be put into Door element, on Layer A-Elev-Door that will be color 11 in the section. There you can also tell it not to show hidden lines or make them dashed and light gray and not to show erased lines.

For further information go to the Autodesk forums and look for Elevation or Section styles in the ADT forums.

Just so you know, whether you do elevations or sections you use the same styles. You can have as many styles as you want so tinker away.
