Title: Inventor to 3d dwg
Post by: Amsterdammed on November 10, 2005, 10:23:31 AM

Hello everybody

I an office off our company in another town they have inventor, i don’t. They did some work for us, but the big Q is, can you convert a inventor file into a 3d dwg file with all it’s 3d info, not only a flat screenshot? And if how (our guys there are obviously not so good in the inventor stuff so I have to ask this)

Thanks in Advance,

Bernd

Not much recourse here. Two entirely different kernels.

You can save an idw to dwg format but it's only a static 2d profile as you already know.

You can saveas inside Inventor to an ACIS file *.sat format and import inside autocad. You get the 3d objects as 3dsolids in autocad. Not much you can do with them but they are 3d.

Draftek,

I will mail the request to my co worker.

As long as it is 3d it will be ok.

Thanks, Bernd
