just out of curiosity:
Is the usage of (GC) - garbage clean still necessary today - with tons of GB RAM?
Who uses it? When?
-
In Lisp?
-
I typically apply it after working with excel spreadsheets in lisp.

MP uses it in his _Eval sub here: http://www.theswamp.org/lilly_pond/mp/lisp/benchmark.txt?nossi=1

Thanks.
As far as I see the function it does not belong to the "Top 10" .. ;-)

Because I'm playing around with monster-lists (up to 4 mill entries) I watched the RAM usage of AutoCAD 2018 (Bricscad 20 freezes earlier).
So maybe GC should be considered anyhow (in this case)?
Values of RAM usage shown: 2 GB / 1.3 GB / 0.7 GB
