Title: set number of decimal places in "coordinates view"

Sorry, I don't know the correct label for what I call "coordinates view". I mean that thingy in the attached picture (by the way - is there a way to post images inline?).

Is there a way to set the number of decimal places programmatically?
I haven't found a system variable for that.
