Title: Civil3D - Bing Maps Performance WMS
Post by: MSTG007 on October 17, 2018, 02:46:42 PM
Ok. Question. I have Civil3D and bing loads up normally and as I zoom in and out, its fast. I heard someone mention that bing is serviced into CAD by using a WMS server.

My state has its own GIS depot. They also have a WMS server. I was able through MAP connect to the WMS Server and bring it in.

When I zoom around, it is slow... w... w...

What makes bing so much faster or my own states so much slower?

I guess, would it speed things up if we were to host a WMS on our LAN?

Sorry for the rant. Just trying to figure it out.

Thanks!

one could attempt to 'ping' each source and see what the return time(s) are.

I can try that out. Just need to see what the WMS address it is for bing.

How hard is it to set up a LAN WMS server?
