Title: AutoCAD Map - Assign Object Data from Points to another entity
Post by: MSTG007 on September 04, 2018, 07:21:24 AM
Just a general question. Is it possible when using MAPIMPORT. To have the object data that you are importing be to a line or arc opposed to a block / attributed block or point?

uh....looks like NO

As it works...unless the object data is already assigned, or the data table linked...you get whatever is in the source

I think you can create object data on a closed polyline from text or block attribute data where the text or block is inside the polyline.
You use "generate data links" or adegenlink.

Otherwise use a free GIS program like QGIS and look into a "spatial join". This will allow you to join data from one object type to another in the same location

That makes sense Rod.

yes, however it isn't happening within the context of MAPIMPORT

That is the method for taking data associated with a polygon, and applying it to the objects.

Interesting... There why is it sometimes hard to find a workflow to do something basic?

MAP  is a second thought, or third to  Autodesk, they basically starve this application for development resources.
