Title: Feature Lines - Label Elevation Points

I have feature line label style that shows the Elevation of the Feature line ("General Segment Start Z") and the elevation of the surface (Reference Text - Surface Elevation)

I then add this label using multiple segments and drag the label grip to the start of the segment for each segment
I then add a similar style with  ("General Segment End Z") to the last segment and drag the grip it to the end of the line.

At this risk of opening up to a Autocad Civil whinge

Is there a better way to do this?

Rod, when using the ReferenceText component for the Surface elevation, I'm not aware of any other workflow than what you are using. It may be possible to write a small program to do the moving of the grip automatically once the label is placed, but even that may prove to be tricky.

OR

Add those featurelines to a surface...any surface

then use surface spot elevation labels....they'll be right (correct) elevation anywhere
on the surface or the feature line....

I'm not understanding the need to drag these labels.  Why not just anchor the Start Z to the 'start' of the segment and the End Z to the 'end' of the segment.

MMccall402, the Surface Reference Text Component gets the elevation at the location of the label grip, not the anchor point. When you label multiple segments, the grip is always placed at the midpoint of the segment. To get the surface elevation at either the  start or end, you must drag the grip to that location.

mjfarrell, the OP has 2 text components...1 for the elevation of teh F/L and the other for the surface elevation. This way they can compare the 2 elevations quickly.

I probably will use a surface spot level instead.
Showing the design surface and the natural surface spot levels (I think that is the same as what MJ is suggesting)

Now just to find a way to reactor their positions off a design feature line

My suggestion doesn't stop one from using a reference text component or three....
