Title: Block insertion point..
Post by: Andrea on June 23, 2015, 12:43:20 PM
I think this is an autoCAD issue..

Hi all,..
a friend show me a strange result with block insertion..

there it is..

1) use "insert" command and select any block.
2) uncheck the "Insertion Point" and "Scale" option...but keep the "Rotation" Checked. (see image)
3) Insert your block and see the result.

Insertion coordinate will take the cursor position instead of specified coordinates points.
I think that weird result is an issue.
(tested on 2015 and 2016)

INSBASE and BASE set to 0,0,0

so I just need to know if any of you have same result..

thank you. :)

Does this happen with any block? I tried it in 2014 and it works as expected.

Could it be that the "basepoint" assigned in the block is not at (0,0)?

check base point of block definition...if NOT 0,0
Fix it with block editor

nope...

Block units is unitless, insertion point is good..INSUNITS, DEFSOURCE and DEFTARGET are ok...
INSBSE and BASE variable also..0,0,0.
eaven if the coordinate is not 0,0,0...the issue still.

Hugo seem to have same issue,

If you unselect the Rotation...all work great.

That is odd. Looks like a bug.

that the rotation snaps to 0,0 and not insert (base) point of the block seems to indicate to me that the block definition is poor.

Make a NEW block being sure to define a GOOD base point....and try again

It's placing the block at the location of the cursor prior to starting the block command.

Do you have dynamic input turned on?

Does this affect its behaviour?

Occurs regardless of the point in space (as long as insertion point "specify on screen" is not checked)
Occurs whether you have scale or rotation or both set to "specify on screen".
Doesn't occur when explode is checked (but there is no ghost/jig)

Funny that the rubber band comes from the correct insertion point.
