Title: fractions fixed, units changed?
Post by: Bethrine on April 16, 2015, 01:34:31 PM
Okay, my units looked like the first picture (good)

I fixed my fractions how I want them to appear using the fraction dialog box and now my units look like picture #2 (bad).  :hahanot:

WHY?!?! And how do I fix it?

My assumption is that when I changed the fraction style, something automatically changed the units style along with it?

<EDIT: Corrected pictures.>

Looks like your "Round Off" needs to be "0000"

Or did I miss the point?

Are you referring to the 0'? If so, then check off the leading zero suppression box.

I like to get rid of leading and trailing zeros...

That was it.  :-)

I clicked undo until I found it. Don't know why it would have changed when I unstacked the fractions though.

Future...suggest making a NEW dimstyle based on one you want to edit....when it works duplicate settings to the original/delete or rename

I am doing something wrong, I have created dimstyles and thought I saved them, but when I open a new drawing, they are not there. How exactly would I do that? (A really good tutorial would be fine).

You need to save them in your template file.

Open the template. Import the styles with design center. Save as Drawing Template.

Are you familiar with how to set-up a template and make it your default?

I've played with it a bit but haven't taken the time to really set it up right. My official answer is no.

It's easy. Once you get it, you'll wonder why you aren't using it yet. The information in this thread should be enough to get you going.

Not sure on this...Is there a setting that changes the output from inches to feet and inches? I think that may be what happened? i.e.: 27" or 2'-3"

Okay, spending some time on this this morning.

UNIT FORMAT

you will need to decide between

Fractional

or

It's going to be fractional.
