Title: Create Reference
Post by: Fabricio28 on April 14, 2014, 10:21:50 AM
Hi guys,

I'd like to create a block reference just for specific object in my project to other project.
Idon't wanna create a reference of my entire project.

How Can I do that?

Thank in advance

what software are you using, and what kind of reference?  if it's simply an XREF, using the full path option in the XREF dialog ought to do it.

I'm using autocad 2012.
I'd like to  create a simply XREF but not the entire project (all layers). Just a few layers or a specific object.

Is it possible?

OK,

no can do.  You can reference a drawing file, but everything that's defined in the DWG is going to be part of the XREF.   Even Paperspace objects, although they will never be visible.

Map3D would let you query in a subset of the drawing, by layer or by area, or other properties, but not vanilla.

A workaround may be to go to the XREF drawing, and WBlock out the objects you want as a new drawing, and the XREF them back into the original drawing, and into you new drawing.

You can't perform "wblock"?

There used to be partial open, but I've never used it.

Perhaps you could make a view of the layers you want to show in you reference file and then use this utility http://www.cadstudio.cz/en/download.asp?file=CopyViews (http://www.cadstudio.cz/en/download.asp?file=CopyViews) to copy the view(s) from your xref and modify view in your new dwg to suit.

Something to consider.

Cheers, Robbo.
