Title: Rounded edges
Post by: DanB on July 19, 2012, 04:21:33 PM
AutoCAD 2012

Trying to learn a bit more about 3d modeling. Let's say you draw a 4" square, extrude said square a height of 4", resulting in a 4" cube (probably a better way to do this?). Once you have this cube, what type of steps are involved in creating a rounded edge along all sides - maybe similar to a dice, there are no hard angles - rather they are smoothed. I know I could fillet the corners prior to extrusion, but there will still be sides needing to be rounded.

fillet them
SOLID>>>Fillet Edges command (best done in various Isometric views so one can see what edges are being affected

and insted of Extrude one would find CUBE a better method

Really dislike the ribbon menus - I just discovered the entire suite of 3d edit commands while searching around for the solid fillet option. Thanks "mjfarrell", looks like I have lots more tools at my disposal now and more to learn.

Fillet, Chamfer, Union, Subtract, Slice....probably be your best friend
