Title: Registry: Location & AcadLocation - what difference?
Post by: Andrey Bushman on June 14, 2012, 07:45:24 AM
Hi all. Sorry for my bab English.

In registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.2\ACAD-7001:409" the parameters Location and AcadLocation are located. Both parameters contains identical value: "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2009".
What distinction between it?

Regards

AcadLocation is a leftover from the AutoCAD 2000 era. Location is the modern equivalent.

Why is not like "AcadLocation"? Why is added "Location"?

I assume that AcadLocation is too product-centric, so they changed to a more generic key name that works in all products.
