Title: (AutoCAD 2012) .chm Based Developer Help
Post by: Lee Mac on July 06, 2011, 04:59:01 PM
Just upgraded to ACAD 2012 and am really missing the old .chm based Developer Help which was available with 2010 (am now wishing that I'd copied the .chm files before uninstalling  ).

The Developer Help in 2012 is accessed through a web browser, and help on the VBA props/methods (such as vla-get-XXX) has completely disappeared. I have tried switching the option to use online help on & off, but to no avail.

Does anyone know where I can download the old .chm based help files which include the documentation for the VBA properties/methods?

Cheers,

Lee

It might not be available anymore, but check the KnowledgeBase for the AutoCAD 2011 CHM download.

Thanks dgorsman, I saw the 2011 CHM download here (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=15068206&linkID=9240618), but I was uncertain as to whether that was the Application help file, rather than the AutoLISP/VBA Developer Help.

Lee -

I tried to send you the files, but your gmail account will not permit *.chm attachments.

To Lee, & anyone else with a gmail account:

Get a real email account.

I am not putting up with Google's BS.

Sorry. :(

Sorry. :(

Many email providers will reject chm files, just zip up the mess, rename the .zip to something else (I use .piz)  and wallah, Bob's your uncle.

Have you tried to post it here on Swamp, so that everyone can use it... I never had installed ACAD 2010 so I don't know what is described in it, I'll be vary thankful if it would be posted here if it's possible (*.chm->*.zip->*.piz)

You can download acad_dev180.chm...

http://www.4shared.com/file/7CudJn6p/acad_dev180.html

But, I don't see if there are descriptions for vla-get-XXX functions... Maybe its wrong file, or I am missing something...

Hi,

Since I use autoCAD 2011, I have on my desktop a shortcut to acad_dev180.chm (French)

The acad_dev180.chm is in a folder which, to be complete, must also contain :
- acad_aag.chm
- acad_acg.chm
- acad_alg.chm
- acad_alr.chm
- acad_alt.chm
- acad_acg.chm
- acad_dxf.chm
- acad_sso.chm
- acadauto.chm (this one contains the COM/ActiveX docs)

If you want the ARX and .NET docs too, you can add to the same folder the following files (from ObjectARX for AutoCAD 2010 (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=785550) doc)
- arxdev.chm
- arxdoc.chm
- arxiop.chm
- arxmgd.chm
- arxmgr.chm
- arxref.chm
- arxxmg.chm
- ObjectARX Addendum - Ribbon.chm
- readarx.chm

I don't know about arx help files, but I've found first set of files under my ACA2010 HELP folder... I'll post link as soon as I upload it on www.4shared.com

Herman,

I can understand your frustration, but since I hadn't had any trouble with gmail in the past, I assumed all would be fine.

In any case, I have sent you my site email address as an alternative and would apologise for the inconvenience.

Is 4shared safe? Maybe I'm being a little paranoid, but I'm always cautious of those kind of sites  :|

There are no viruses guaranteed... (I give you my word, but next time you keep your files on HD, I think you can afford bigger capacity)
