Title: Reading the Toolpalettes

Is there a way to read the items on a toolpalette. I would like to read item by item on a tool palette for the purpose of getting the blockname and the insert properties of that Item and store this information to a external database. This would give me a record of which blocks are on which palette or palettes and what are there insertion properties.

I beleive the palettes are written in XML?
