Title: cad to pdf
Post by: daron on November 21, 2003, 11:45:12 AM
Any of you guys print cad to pdf files? Back in release 4 of adobe, you could keep adobe from opening up when printing to pdf. We're using 6 now and I can't find a way to keep this from happening. Anybody have any ideas? Yes, I'd prefer dwf too, but I have to pdf it.

We use Leadtools ePrint. It was much easier than Adobe and you can use it to create other formats as well.

You can even give it a test try

Thanks guys. Mike I for some reason don't have the distiller loaded this go around. I did find the solution under the printer itself. Duh, you think I'd have looked there first.

Craig thanks, but this is all corporate mandates. I could personally care less about creating pdf's with cad, I just have to. Version 6 don't look so bad, though. It seems they've actually improved it some. Time will tell.

Daron,

Where exactly did you find the switch?

Find your way to your printers through the windows start bar. Right click on Adobe PDF and hit properties. Under general hit Printing Preferences and under Adobe PDF Settings, the first toggle button says "View Adobe PDF results". Turn that off. I haven't printed a pdf since unchecking that, but I think it's the answer.

If you've got the money and do the PDF thing all the time take a look at that Bluebeam software that's advertised on CADalog. It's a easy as it get's, really!

I did try bluebeam. It is great, but corporate mandates are that. If they're willing to buy the software, I guess I can be just as willing to use it. With 2000+ acad, it's just as easy to plot a pdf as it is to plot on paper or any other file.
