Title: convert 2d plan and elevation to 3d

im wondering if a this possible....

i do have 2d plan and elevation (drawn in plain autocad) and i would like to convert this to 3d.

sure, use the EXTRUDE command ....
or draw 3dfaces...

the "easy button" only exists in commercials.

You'd have to do it as mjfarrell suggested.

There's no real easy way to "convert to 3d" ... you basically have to model it from scratch, but having the plan already made can expedite the task by already having the dimensions/shapes of everything necessary.

My next question is there a way you can rotate my extruded elevation?  see attached.

I think you need to start turning on your "thinking in 3D" mind frame.

I would have suggested that before you extruded the profile of that elevation, that you aligned the 2D elements in the proper PLANE, first.

However, ucs, you can rotate it after the fact.  Keep in mind that the standard "ROTATE" command always rotates about the Z-axis, meaning that it rotates -ON- the XY plane.

If that currently does not achieve the direction of rotation you desire, than you must make the Z-axis point in a direction that DOES make this happen. 

Use the UCS command to accomplish that.  You can change the UCS by a number of means, all explained in the help file.

Then you can rotate it.

Another method is to use the ALIGN command, assuming you have a few points on the plane you wish to align the bottom of the house to.
