Title: Inventor: Sketch Line Color to Layer?
Post by: Birdy on March 31, 2008, 09:12:12 AM
Posted this in the Adesk forums (http://discussion.autodesk.com/adskcsp/thread.jspa?threadID=654224), but hoping I might get a quicker response here.  :angel:

Here's what I am attempting (IV 2008 test drive);

I have a part sketch with 3 rectangles.  Each rectangle is used to
produce a separate feature.  The sketch can be saved out as a .dxf file
(via rt clk/ export face as...), but I need each rectangle to be on a
separate layer in the dxf file.  I have assigned each rectangle to be a
different color (via sketch properties/ line color).

In other words, when saving to dxf, I want all "green" lines in the
sketch to end up on layer name green, "blue" lines in the sketch to end
up on layer name blue, etc.

I have saved the configuration file as MySketchExport.ini.  Can I edit
this file somehow to map sketch geometry color to AutoCAD layer name? Or
is this something that must be edited in the post process .xml file? In
fact, can it be done at all?

Thanks for any help in advance, or "points" to the right direction.
I know very little of Inventor, and even less of it's API.  Does anyone have any Inventor programming experience that can help me get sketch geometry to a layered dxf?
