Title: ACAD2004 directories (correction)
Post by: zithmeister on June 10, 2004, 06:35:18 PM
Does anyone know why ACAD decided to bury the support files about 6 branches deep in a totally ACAD unrelated directory (ACAD 2004Mech)?

It's a Windows XP thing. In order to be one with Microsoft, Autodesk has to follow their rules. To bad really, a nice unix version I think would go far for Adesk.

Yah, it purty much bites.  We have 2K4/Mech here runnin on XP and I still can't figure out why XP won't let me copy some files from one dir to another....Between Billy-Bob and What's- her-name, the whole thing's a pain any more.....it seems to get harder and harder to do the simple things.

when you install and especially if you do a network install with all the bells and whistles you can control those items upon loading the program.

or once you are done installing, go to tools, options, and set all the search apths etc to where you are use to having them..

It is a pain and can lead to some dangerous items becuase it put's mny files under the user's profile.
