One of my users just started using a tablet & pen for drafting (his preference), and mentioned that he'd heard of something that allowed you to enter commands by gesturing with your mouse. I found lots of references to ARRIS, but the only live site I could find was this one (http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/).
Anybody heard of any of these, or anything like it?

StrokeIt Mouse Gestures.....Hmmmmm...Ooooookaaaaayyyyy!
Kinda like a Wii for AutoCAD??

That seems kind of interesting.
Probably take some getting use to I would think.
Does this totally eliminate the keyboard?
And it's a company in Michigan...

Yeah, the name's a little...suggestive.
It can't entirely replace the keyboard, since you still would need to enter numbers and things...this guy just likes controlling the computer with a stylus, rather than a mouse (finds it more comfortable), and was wondering about other options.

A long time ago, I played a game on my PC that made use of gestures to perform certain commands. It was pretty cool! Definitely had its uses. I'm sure its usefulness would be just as high in the CAD world.

I have a tablet at home, (can't remember the model), and I can program gestures, I haven't even thought of using it in autocad though.

I can think of one or two gestures that may well not translate very well!!!!!

I don't use those gestures with AutoCAD TOO much... FAR more often with Microstation, though! ;)

I noticed this while surfing (look for Acad.sxp under "Other Goodies")

Andy, would you be able to post some details on the gestures when you get a chance?

You would with Civil 3D . . . I have dislocated my shoulder a few times when certain gestures were issued with extreme gusto. :|

Well, I've gestured Autodesk that way, but for the most part, I guess I'm used to how AutoCAD works for me and in many ways, forgotten about how I think it SHOULD work. I bet a big upgrade would get the gestures flying again, though. :)

I'm with you there Mike... the times I have cursed and gestured to Microstation this past 3 weeks.
(Our Mickeystation is coupled with Projectwise, so it is V E R Y S L L L O O O W W W and I have yet to figure a way of having 2 drawings open in Projectwise/Microstation :-(
