Now, I know I can't extrude a spline... to the best of my knowledge, but I have a drawing that I would like to make a 3d object of with as little fuss as possible. It is made up of splines. Any thoughts on how I can take this object and extude it?
Thanks!

Copy over your spline with arcs, join them and extrude the arcs? Sorry, I know it's a lot of fuss, but I can't think of any better way.
P.S., I can't tell what version of CAD you're using and haven't tried the spline idea in 2007 yet.

What exactly are you trying to do?

from memory there is a variable setting that says to create splines as poly lines, perhaps you can set this and re-open the drawing and hope it has changed and away you go. Other than that, approximating the spline by tracing it with a polyline would be the simplest answer.

Watch how many endpoints your pline has. The more points on the polyline the more little bitty surfaces you will have.

http://dotsoft.com/public/spl2pl.vlx (http://dotsoft.com/public/spl2pl.vlx) will convert splines to plines

A closed spline extrudes, Acad 2006, you can also make a region of touching splines and extrude that.
-
You can also you use the express tools flatten command. That will make arcs, then just pedit and extrude.
-
at least since 2007 splines could be extruded...
what version you on?
-
You have always been able to extrude a closed spline or ellipse, as noted above. Acad 2007 allows open splines/ellipses to be extuded and then thickened with the thicken command to create a 3D solid.
