Anyone going? :?
http://www.be.org/en-US/BE+Conference/Overview.htm (http://www.be.org/en-US/BE+Conference/Overview.htm)
-
Not me. :-)
-
It's for the car, right?
-
It's for the car, right?
No it's for the BE...
-
Tentatively, I am planning on going. As long as the business keeps going and I can afford it...
I heard California is nice in the spring as well... :-)
Pieter
-
It sounds great (and was recommended to me by a highly reliable source)
Not sure if the company will spring for it, but it's worth a shot. I'll come back with the (hopefully good!) news.....
-
Convention center, huh? That's down around USC / Watts (?) neighborhood. [Dangerous area, none the less.]
Be careful!
.
.
.
.
Westwood/Brentwood however, is a highly recommended "must see" for the evenings entertainment.
Then there's always West Hollywood.... (NTTAWWT) :|
-
Put in my training request today. My company is not big on springing for seminars that require plane travel, but couldn't find much (couldn't find anything) in my area. Besides the convention and training directly through Bentley, all I could find were the MCMC in Kansas City and FLUG in Orlando. Has anyone been to these? How do they rate?
-
Here is another resource for you. However it looks like the closest one to you might be in Michigan. http://www.moderntech.com/training/training_sched.html (http://www.moderntech.com/training/training_sched.html)
Are you using any other Bentley products?
-
Thanks for the info. We use GEOPAK, but I have very limited experience with it - only a few licenses, mostly our surveyors use it.
-
I'll be there. It's usually a tough sell to mgmt. but it's a worthwhile event.
Since I'm looking at single digit temps I'm looking forward to SoCal weather! My sales rep. say's it's in a pretty shady part of town though.
-
IF AZ and Kindra are going I may have to go just to camp out in the lobby. ^-^ :-D
No offense Pieter. :-)
-
I'm definitely going....if they ever open registration :-(
-
Thats ok Mav... I understand...
[sitting in the corner by my self]
Pieter
-
So I took a look at the info about the Conference.
They have early registration which costs $200 less but it is only valid for the month of February.
So, I wonder how many days registration is going to be available in February if at all?
It isn't open yet...
Seems odd...
Pieter
-
You don't have to worry Pieter, it say's right there on the website that they'll have it "Open Soon". See, there's no need to worry!
-
yeah, I'll be at my computer on february 28 @ 11:55pm for the briefy 5 minutes to try and get the $200 savings...
I'm sure that's when they open it... Oh, but I guess I need to find out for what time zone they are going to open it in...
It might be Eastern time as that is where their HQ is... :lmao:
Pieter
-
Read the "funny" thread in the discussion group, microstation.events.
A Bentley person responded...
-
With reservation, I went ahead and made my reservations at the Wilshire Grand hotel.
Made my plane reservations also... But still can't register for the conference itself...
I certainly hope they get their act together, soon. :-)
-
I was a little shocked at the price for the hotel rooms...
I haven't booked anything as of yet. Next week I will look at airfare and hotel rooms.
See what the cost of everything comes out to be.
Lori, you going early or staying late or are you flying in-out?
I think I'm gonna go...

Jet Blue?

Wilshire Grand was one of the cheaper hotels that came with complimentary internet access, plus it is a 4 star hotel vs the others listed as 3 stars...
I plan to get there during daylight on Saturday and don't have any idea when I will be leaving (waiting on the travel center to find/confirm my flights) but I sure would like to be home late Thursday or early Friday (1am is just fine). My co-worker and boss will be travelling (from Raleigh) about the same time I'm travelling from Florida. My boss will be one of the speakers.
I do hope you get to go Pieter!
If you're driving... would you mind meeting me at the liquor store? Again :-o Just kidding, this time ;-)
-
Jet Blue?
No probably American... I'm getting real close to a free round trip ticket from them :-)
-
Pieter, I changed my hotel reservation to the Omni. :-)
-
We have 1 day left... I sent an email to ask about the early bird discount being extended into March...
we shall see...
-
Check the Bentley discussion groups under announcements. Yesterday I saw where they said they would be extending this... :?

Yeah, add that to the endless list of websites that I need to start looking at on a regular basis... I've been trying to look at the AUGI forums more often and I'm lucky if I get over there every 2 weeks...
I need to hire a full-time web surfer
I can get roundtrip airfare for under $400. That isn't too bad. I guess I could shop other airlines as see if they can beat Southwest. Still going to cost some money to attend. Close to $3,000.00 from my initial estimates.

That's better than my airfare @ $465
Currently we have ay least 5 people attending...

Registration is finally open!
But beware the glitches!!!
Like being overcharged! :-o then trying to get it corrected.
-
do they have a listing of the actual classes yet?
I know that was a big deal last year as you didn't know what was available
before te registration closed. Early registration for 10 days isn't very long as well.
Kind of rubs me the wrong way....
still not sure about going.... (now for other reasons besides $$)
Pieter
-

Yes, and I was able to get into the classes I wanted.
-
It's official, I'm in! I'll be there from Saturday until Thursday morning. We should all get together for a cold one!

I can only wish! Hope you folks have a good time... Oh yeah, and learn something too! :)
-
That's excellent Scooter! Where are you staying?
Thanks Mike, and I'll share whatever information is available.
Pieter, have you decided yet?
-
Pieter, have you decided yet?
I don't know yet. To save the $200, I need to do in my tomorrow.
If I get this big job, it won't happen since that's when this job is suppose to kick off.
If I don't get this job, I'll be poor...
We'll see what happens...
Pieter
-
I'm in the Wilshire Grand. It was the best deal I could find, if you want to call it that!
How about you?
Come on Peiter, if you get the job you'll need the break. And if you don't we'll buy you a beer to cry into!

Several of the people I work with are staying at the Wilshire. I'm at the Omni. :-)
We get there about 4:00pm on Saturday.

Scooter's right, you will need a break. Besides I'll buy you a beer too, and you can't let two perfectly good beers go to waste...
-
I'm not saying I won't need a break by then.
It's just that their answer to us has been pushed back another two weeks,
so I may not know until the 16th of April.
There is no way I could leave for a week, especially when I told them I needed 3 weeks to gear-up
for that. So they would want me working by the first Monday of May.
If it doesn't go through I might just take a flight out and have to crash in someones room on the floor
and take you all up on the offers of beer and food
Oh yeah and don't forget about school :ugly:
Pieter

I got lucky because this falls right in between semesters :-)

Well, somehow I became a presenter at the Bentley Conference :?
My subject will be:
Progress Energy: Using ProjectWise to Manage a Geographically Dispersed Electrical System Design Team
https://registration.be.org/beconference/2007/catalog/controller/catalog (https://registration.be.org/beconference/2007/catalog/controller/catalog)
Class: GU1BP330
At least it's something I'm familiar with.... ;-)
