Title: .shx fontfile
Post by: Bryco on June 07, 2006, 03:10:07 AM
I have a dwg that takes forever to open and do anything with, but when you change the font in the textstyle dialog box it works fine. Since the .shx is supposed to be stored in the drawing (read that but dont know for sure) I can't find a way to cycle through the textstyles and change the font on anytning that errors out as I cant find the error.  Anyone have a solution?

The shx file is NOT stored in a dwg file. I ran across this same issue at a sub contractors site. I ended up giving them all the fonts that we use and presto, drawing was back to being responsive.

That should make it easy to find an error but getfont doesn't have a problem.

GetFile is looking for a filename. Presence of filename does Not mean the file is not broken. I would replace it.

Tx Rob.
I seem to get so many whacked drawings from clients (vectorwork conversions being some of the worst) I am gradually making a usefull clean drawing function. This one would be a handy addition to that function if I could figure it out. Replacing the font is definately the go, but only if it needs it. I guess I need to search the same search paths that cad does.

Remember ... the font file is not embedded, only the Style is. If there are problems with any font, refresh your system file (either from another machine working correctly or from AutoCad CD). I'm afraid this falls in category of 'System Maintenance' rather than 'DWG Cleanup'.
