Title: Change layer colors by viewport???
Post by: bmossman on March 06, 2004, 11:54:44 PM
Is there a way to change the color of layers in the current viewport without affecting the model space layer properties...similar to the freeze in current viewport command.

Unfortunately your out of luck.
layer color is a global property, so any change will change the appearance in all viewports & bothe model & paperspace.

One thing I would have to say is what would be the purpose of doing what your trying to achieve?
Are you aiming to have 2 viewports showing the same thing but at a different scale? wishing to have different line widths when plotting?

What discipline are you working with? ADT uses viewports in a different way than most people are accustomed to who use plain autocad, where through viewports and display properties, you can get a different set of colors for objects as you view them through different viewports.

YES, it is called a "viewport color override" -
from paperspace, activate a viewport into model space and then you can make the changes in the layers palette.
It will only affect That Viewport.

YES, it is called a "viewport color override" - ...

That was not available in 2004 when this post originated.
Viewport overide was introduced in 2008.
Still useful information for those that aren't aware of its presence.
