Hi,
Just something I came across.
We had one user complaining about a drawing that takes ±20 minutes to open with 2008. With 2006, the drawing opens without any problems. Luckily I have read somewhere about problems people are having with the number of scales in the scalelist. The drawing had 27629 scale list entries.
I found this on the Autocad website, and it solved the problem.

Good to know :) ... I was working on a project a couple of weeks ago that took forever to open....I reset the scales and they open right away now. :-)

Here is fix from Adesk

Nice. I wonder if they have a similar utility for registered applications 8-)

If you use the command line version of Purge (-purge) there is an option for purging regapps.

That is what I do now :). What I'd really like is a batch regapp clean utility that would not change the files modify date after purging.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what does this do?

It purges registered applications from the drawing. Sometime there are thousands of these in drawings and it really bloats the file size. The one I always run into that usually has large numbers is EPAN*.

I know this may sound strange, but what "registered applications"?
What causes them and how do they get in your drawing?

I believe reg apps are added when third party programs utilize xdata.

Thanks for that :)
So I take it that it SHOULD be OK to purge them out?
