This has been driving me nuts for weeks now. When I go to open a file the "Select File" dialog always shows the file in alphabetical order, ascending(?), file names are from z to a. I'm sure it's stored in the registry some where but I can't find it. BTW, this affects some of the Windows dialog boxes too.
Anyone have a clue how to change this?
thanks

Thought you might like to see this, check out the folder icon. :)

Click on the header "Name" so the triangle points up or change your view to "List".

I'm sure you've done this but get the view to how you want it then (In Explorer): Tools >>Folder Options>>View>>Apply to all folders

Right, but it doesn't stay that way the next time I use the dialog. :)

Under view in folder options there is a box "Remember each folder's view settings". Is it checked?

That means it can't find the path that is associated with the icon. I have had that happen every once in while when my network paths get messed up. To fix it, I took out the path letter, and just had it mapped with the whole network path.

not sure if they ever fixed this issue:

summary
Issue
On the File menu, you click Open. In the Select File dialog box in the Views drop-down list, the view type always reverts to List in a new session of AutoCAD, even after you changed the view type to Details
Solution
This is as designed; there is no way to retain the setting.

At some point it changed, maybe 2 months ago. That's what bugs me! Why did it change?
thanks Michael.

try rubbing your eyes

If you change the order to the way you want it & then hold down Ctrl while you open a drawing the order should stick for next time. Works in ADT 2006.
