Title: Can Anyone Recover This File???
Post by: deegeecees on September 20, 2007, 01:52:04 PM
I think my Norton 360 hosed this file for some reason. I tried recovering, but get this:

INTERNAL ERROR:  !saveres.cpp@440: eGeneralModelingFailure

BAK file is the same since I saved it right before this happened, and AutoSave file is non-existent for some reason ???!!! Arrrghhh! I'd appreciate it if someone could look and see if they can recover it, or find a solution. I don't want to redraw this thing.

Does this work for you, Deeg?

I got it to open, but there wasn't much left in the drawing.  Just a title sheet and a bunch of layouts with nothing but title blocks.

I may have saved the model for you, only the layouts got lost along the way using MAP, and Design center.
The attached seems complete.

I opened Kindra's, and all is well. I was looking to save the model, titleblock info isn't important, so thank you too Chuck, and MJF!

I think I just used my hand.....

RDRR

I tried pulling it in as a block, opening it with TrueView, and got bupkis. Pulling it in one piece at a time through design center was not an option as all geometry is in solids only form, not blocked (aside from the 53 foot chassis, and the 48 foot container). So, I'm just curious as to how anyone else was able to accomplish this, and I may need to repeat your actions sometime in the future.

Glad it worked out - redrafting sucks!

I guess I'll be directing all my hosed drawings towards you, since MS is not an option for me anymore. Just name your subscription fee.

Truth is I ran RECOVER on it, and Autocad accepted the recovered database.
It funny sometimes how cad behaves when my hand is on the mouse.
I can't offer any subscription fees, I give free support with all my classes, and here and there on the web as time permits.  The web stuff is my learning lab, where I learn from others having issues and trying to solve or resolve them. Sometimes I learn more than others; how can I charge for that?

Okay. The charge is a gallon of green M&Ms, a case of South African Cabernet, a pogo stick and a three-legged dog.

Done, done, and done. Except it's gonna take me a while to separate all the green one's from the rest, as I will be munching on them, and the pile may diminish after a short while.

BTW, whats the pogo stick for?

This is from running a recover:

Reading handle 644 object type AcDb3dSolid
        Error 13 (eUnknownHandle)

It opens fine here after.

I can't even open it. It does however open in TrueView, but I can't save it from there. I could plot to a plt file, and maybe pull it in from that, but I don't have alot of time (ever) so I can't muck around with it. Thanks RJP!

I was able to open it in Autocad 2007

It had two errors but it opened.  If you need I will save it as 2004   Looks like someone beat me to it

FWIW I now have the DwgTrueVue2008, and it'll open/convert the suspect dwg, but doesn't retain all geometry. I may have to play with some settings. Or try another avenue.
