Installer Packages?
« on: September 27, 2011, 03:42:11 PM »
Being that this is the first time I've considered looking into MSI packages, I learned this week that Visual Studio 2010 Express does not support MSI templates.

That said, what do you utilize for your **CAD Updates... use NSIS, or Windows PowerShell, etc.?

** Note - I usually work with AutoCAD, so I've well established a delivery method using Visual LISP & DOS Batch files predominantly. I'm now cross-training on Microstation+GEOPAK, and have not yet dove into MDL, etc. I was *thinking* of looking into using MSI packages, but now that I know VSE doesn't support MSI, I wonder if there's a better way...?

Thanks!

I use NSIS.

WinRAR could also be a possibility if all you need is a simple installer -i.e. unpack files to a location and create a shortcut on the desktop.
