Can't plot (some) images
« on: January 10, 2007, 06:21:50 AM »
I have a drawing with 6-8 raster images (TIFs and PNGs) and some images plot and some don't.  Not sure why...  Most are clipped - some clipped more than others.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.  Is there anything special or hidden I should look for in 2007?  All of the images would plot when we were using LDT 2005 - but not anymore.   :x

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do they all show up?
How about during a plot preview?
Plotting from Model Space or a Layout?

Do they all show up?
Yes, and they're all on the same layer (so it's not like one is on a no-plot layer) and the others aren't.

How about during a plot preview?
Yup.

Plotting from Model Space or a Layout?
Plotting from PS using a 40-scale viewport.

I've had this happen twice before with drawings that had large area(s) covered by images.  I got around it by first plotting to a DWF and then plotting that to the printer.  It's ok for the rare occasional use but obviously not the answer if you do a lot of drawings with images like this.

This isn't the "norm" for us.  We're doing a master plan for a large campus project and we don't have survey info of the surrounding areas so we had to download some images from a web site.

My next step is to try to plot to PDF and see what happens with that.

Try using photoshop or something to make all of your images one image, then insert into CAD. Again, not really an acceptable solution, just something that works...

It appears to be a Land Desktop issue.  I created two plots (one with the Plot Upside Down option selected and the other without) and each one produced different results.  When plotted one way, some images would disappear; when plotted the other way, the images that didn't plot the first time showed up, but others then didn't plot.

Long story short.... I cut/pasted both plots together, scanned them to one TIF and all is well (for now).

Thanks for all of your suggestions.

This is most likely a system memory issue.
This may produce unacceptable results, however its a good test.
Use some Image editing software and REDUCE the resolution
of the images, and then try to plot.
OR, try plot to file, and copy that directly to the printer.
You might even adjust the plot quality settings lower.
