Quick Mtext Question
« on: May 28, 2009, 10:52:10 AM »
When editing mtext, is there a way to 'Enter' out of it like you can when editing dtext?  Similarly, when editing attributes, you can tab down to the OK button and hit enter.  I just hate having to use the mouse to OK out of the mtext editor.

CTRL+Enter

*edit*  This goes for the attribute-editor as well, and most any dialog where you want to his "OK" but don't know how many times you'd have to hit 'tab' to switch focus to the 'enter/ok' button.

Picking outside the editor window will also close the editor, but you probably knew that.

Hmph... doesn't work on my machine... CTRL+Enter does the same as plain ol' Enter.

Yep, thanks... That's what I was trying to avoid...

I use this routine to edit all of my text / attribute entities by selecting them in the order I want to edit them in and hate having to use the mouse at all... I just want to use the keyboard.

How old is your software?  They added the CTRL+ENTER thing in...  2005?

What would I search for in the AutoCAD help files for what CTRL+Enter does?

I'm wondering if it's a variable I have turned off somehow...

I just searched for CTRL ENTER, and got a page called "Format Characters Within Multiline Text" that says:

To save your changes and exit the editor, use one of the following methods:
  • On the MTEXT ribbon contextual tab, in the Close panel, click Close Text Editor.
  • Click in the drawing outside the editor.
  • Press CTRL+ENTER.

Don't see anything about any way to turn it on or off.

It must be a "feature" in the Canadian version.
