multiple section view origin?
« on: July 08, 2008, 01:07:50 PM »
Does anyone know if you can set the origin of the section views when creating by a group?  I am doing multiple section views and plotting by a group.  I have attached a drawing to help show what I am doing. There seems to be a 30(y)and 22.5(x) distance coded in there somewhere but I can't find it.

Kevin,

Are you after the Row and column offset spacing? Or distance between the Page groups?

I think I have the spacing of the rows and columns figured out  I would like to have it place the sections like shown on attachment.  Would like to set it up so that I don't have to move each sheet manually.

Have a look at your Section Plot Sheet Style Settings....

The Named Page Setup Inked Area Limits, and Margin offsets are at play here...

K-Dawg,

I went into a a basic file and created a NEW page setup, here I modified the INKED area LIMITS to be ZERO
then I defined a Plot Group Style and specified the Layout Tab (they call it the Page Layout, see the image in last post) I just created to be used as the Page Layout. Then in the Sheet Style margin settings when you adjust the Left and Bottom margins they work as expected.

The attached is a from the 3d viewer showing my .5" left and bottom margins with DEFAULT section views of a corridor.

You OK with this or should I send you the sample file?
It all starts with the Inked Area Limits of your Sheet Size. Somehow C3D attempts to do the math for you and; well it must be keeping it's shoes on because it does the math wrong.

Michael,

I have not had a chance to play with it yet this morning.  I see that you are using 2009,  we are still using 2008, but I have recently installed 2009 on my computer.  Maybe I need to try setting them up in 2009.  (I am sure that there are new and improved features in 2009)  :-).   You could send the sample file if you would like.  That may give me something to compare to when setting my own up.  Thanks again.

I'm not sure if the unexpected crashed will out weight the 'new' features. A couple are interesting.

I'll send that file off a little later.  I might try something different with the documentation.
Also I can rinse and repeat for 2008 rather handily and send in that format.
The 'trick'
Setup a Layout Tab that uses say the Default DWF.PC3
Edit the printable area (inked area limits) to be zero.
Use that Named Page setup as the Page Layout setting when you run your Group Section Plot.
