font codes?
« on: February 04, 2008, 02:59:56 PM »
for the life of me I can't remember how to figure out what for example: %%144, %%148, %%154, and %%155 are supposed to mean.

could someone help me out here?

I got a vendor dwg and just about every text string contains one of these codes. I think they are fractions, but I don't know how to find out WHAT the codes stand for.

The standard we use here in our office is %%201 = 1/16 ; %%202 = 1/8 ; %%203 = 3/16... and so forth and such.

They are likely only good if you have a certain shx file.

that's what i was thinking: that those codes are font specific, and attached? to the file itself...

your guess is as good as mine?  ^-^

Dub is right.

Those codes are defined within a the font file, so if you don't have the right font, you have no way of knowing WHAT fraction you're SUPPOSED to be seeing, and any chance you take by 'guessing' or substituting a font will lead you in a random direction at best, with no way of knowing if you have the right numbers.  You have to get that file from the vendor.

The standard for your office may not be the standard for anyone elses.  It's all just a 'standard' that someone thought up when they made the font/shape file.

Of course, if you enable fraction stacking, 1/2 = ½,  1/4 = ¼, etc.

I think I see a couple clues there...

Look in your styles definitions.

Look for any bigfonts attached to the font. You might find out what the SHX was called.

We stopped using our fraction.shx because you needed the pre version of windows simplex.shx.

It was a nightmare.
