They are compiled into a DLL. There is a thread here about it.
I'll look later.

If you copy acadbtn.xmx and rename the copt it to acadbtn.dll you can open it with a program such as reshacker (free download) and save the images.

These are the images from the toolbar icons

Depending on what version you have, you can also replace the splash image in AcadRes.dll using something like ResHacker.

I use IcoFx (there's also a portable apps version) to extract images from compiled files such as dll, exe, etc.

Don't know about recourse hacker. I've used XN Resource Editor in the past. Just checked with my PortableApps version of it. Don't need to rename to a DLL, can open the XMX file directly and results in something like this:

That's because the portion you're looking at is listed inside the XMX file as a raw data item. Not as an icon or bitmap.

You can still use XN to extract that. Use it's Resource --> Export Resource menu, then saveas to an ICO file. It seems to work fine for me. With these "raw" resources you don't necessarily know in what encoding they are, so you may have to do some trial-n-error with the extensions like BMP/ICO/GIF/etc.

Hello HighflyingBird,

Lee had already pointed this out but I had not yet checked.

But this is very nice and much easier than the other programs.

Great

 Thank you for this tool
