Create QLeader Settings by Macro?
« on: September 11, 2008, 11:23:50 AM »
How does one create / modify QLeader settings by the Keyboard?

I have a coworker that wants to use the QLeader on every dwg with same settings, but doesn't want to go thru all of the steps of setting it up each time.

-Qleader doesn't do it.

Any ideas how to supress the dialog boxes each step?

I think you can not access the xData where the Qleader settings live with macros. :-(

Yes, that is what I am finding.

As a temperary fix for her, I created a block with the Arrow / Text already set up that she can bring into the dwg then just modify the text.

I take it you are on something earlier than 2008, and you don't have MLEADERS?

MLEADERS have some quirks, too, but they've completely replaced QLEADERS for us.

We are using 2008 LT, and I 'played' with MLeaders, but haven't been able to get those to 'set-up' by a macro either. I cannot suppress the dialog boxes.

Either will work for what she wants, but you still have to set them up with each new dwg.

Why do you need a macro with MLEADERs?  Once you create the styles you want, it is very easy to switch between them in the Styles toolbar.  Save the styles in your drawing template, and they are always there, ready to be used.

The problem is that she is editing dwgs that have been previously created.

She wants to be able to create NEW ones with the click of an icon.

Have you tried sticking a sample leader on a tool palette?

If you have 2009, you can transfer MLEADER styles between drawings using the Design Center.

In both 2008 and 2009, you can create a blank drawing that contains nothing but your MLEADER styles, then insert that drawing (preferably with Explode checked in the INSERT dialog) to add those MLEADER styles to any drawing.

Very painless, no customizations or Lisps required.

What settings exactly aren't sticking? I've always been able to set them and have them stay set (except for a few random resets).

What I meant about the tool palette is that if you draw a qleader with all the settings you want, and drag-and-drop it onto a tool palette, you should be able to click on it to execute the command with your settings. (Haven't tried this variation specifically, but it should work.)

Kate,

We haven't used Tool Pallets. But after reading your post, I pulled it up.

I guess it would work for her, but we need to change the font to Arial .125 size and the leader / arrow to RED. Is it possible to make these settings with an Icon?
