Wipeout origin points
« on: April 18, 2011, 06:49:09 AM »
Hi Chaps

System used : Acad 2011 LT
Command: Wipeout in 2D

Problem:

Sometimes when I create a wipeout for a valve
1. Valve not a block
2. Move entities to 0,0 postion, via selecting the center of the valve line as the origin point
3. draw a pl line around the valve and close it
4. Wipeout command, select "P" and select the pline then say yes to delete
5.Repeat command this time type "F" then turn the frame off
6. highlight the area around the invisible valve then "bring" to forward

Now when I "insert" the block the origin point the origin is way off the center where I selected it.
Doesnt happen all the time just at certain times

Any ideas "why" this is happening

Thanks
Nyah

Are you adding the Wipeout to the block definition?

not creating a block having the valve symbol all individual entities only when I "insert" it the origin point is not at the center

Punctuation is your friend. :\  I can not make heads or tails of that jumble.

I'm not sure I'm reading you right.  You seem to use terminology that is very conflicting.  To me, when you "insert" something, it's a block.  You don't insert objects other than blocks.  Are you simply copying things around?

If so, then your draw-order can get wonky.  You'd need to find a way to quickly select the objects you wish to change, and send them 'to back' or select all your wipeouts and 'bring to front'.  This is assuming you don't have objects that still need to be 'atop' the wipeout.

Maybe you -should- be making blocks if you are currently not doing so.  It sounds like it'd solve your problem, in my opinion.  I've never had problems with draw-order when objects were in a block.

When I first create the wipeout I dont make a block
The frame is switched off and the lines brought to the front [draworder]

When Im in another drawing I "insert" the drawing with the non blocked symbol and place.
If I make a block with wipeout and then try and "Insert" it into another the wipeout block doesnt work erros says.

"cannot refence itself" command cancelled

because you are nesting the same block inside a block with the same name

STOP

create each wipe out as you need them, add the graphics items

Then make a NEW Block..the problem will go away.

However if you keep trying to recycle that same block inside everyother new block you make, the problem will remain.

also...when you define the block...are you also NOT defining the insertion point of the block at that time?

if NO
then do so...

IF yes
STOP  using 0,0,0 as insertion point unless the graphis you have drawn are ACTUALLY centered around 0,0,0
otherwise select the desired insertion point from the screen.
